THE ARTS SOCIETY TEST VALLEY

"Church Trails" have now been renamed "Children's Trails" to take account of the many different types of building in which worship takes place.  Trails are now being created around the country for churches, synagogues, mosques, temples and all other religious buildings.

The Arts Society Test Valley is currently engaged in creating a Children's Trail for St Mary's Church, Monxton.

The Trail is a question sheet that guides children and accompanying adults round a religious building, and encourages them to engage with the architecture, history and furnishings. Members voluntarily give their time to research and write the questions and corresponding answer sheets. The aim is to encourage 8-12 year olds and their families to learn about the building and inspire them to visit and enjoy others.  It is produced with the training, help and support of the Children's Trail Area Representative. The Society bears the small cost of making the trail and setting it up before handing it over. The Question Sheet is on both sides of an A4 page in a child friendly design. The simplicity of the format keeps the cost of printing to an absolute minimum. The Answers, also on two sides of A4 , are knowledgeable and well researched.
